It is vitally important that children are taken to see a dentist from a very early age, from as young as having cut their first tooth. Parents must be educated on the importance of dental health through their health visitors and also through visits to their dentist. Children are able to receive free basic dental health care through the National Health Service. Most Primary Care Trusts offer specialists paediatric departments to deal with children’s needs and more specialist advice and treatment.
